Service Project, Investigation and baptism
This week flew by. I can't believe its p-day already. I've got some good stories this week!!
To start out we did a service project. It was our first big service project. We were asked to build a chicken pen, well we traveled to this older lady's house who lives in the middle of nowhere and when we got there, we had 0 plans. It was a mess of a project. Basically, we are in the middle of a forest with trails and 3 kinds of open areas we can build this pen in. The lady chooses the worst area and we start to dig holes for the posts with what grandpa price calls the "big pry bar" and a coconut shell. It took forever to dig one then she decided to move it so I was a little mad cause we took 10 min to dig a 1-foot hole and now we are moving it. We moved the material to another area and she said that there were fence posts on the edge of her property so me and Ramirez went and grabbed some. As soon as we got back and set them down our legs were in so much pain, we looked down and we had so many ants on them just biting us. It hurt so bad so we finally got them all off then about 5 min later it happened to Wixom too. Then we started digging the holes and Wixom all of the sudden started running and yelling and we look up and he is getting stung by something and it is chasing him. He ended up getting stung 10 times by who knows what so we decided to move our project to another area and finally got it built. I thought the day couldn't get any worse till the lady offered to feed us and it ended up being mondongo( cow intestine soup). I was ready to cry. She then offered us all a tiny pepper and said "Solo un poco picante" which means "only a little spicy" and she continued to eat 2 right in front of us. Well, me and my comps decided to try them, On the count of three we all ate them, well kind of, wixom only nibbled the end and Ramirez ate half and I ate THE WHOLE THING. It was so freaking spicy I felt like passing out and my lips where tingling and It was just terrible. But totally worth it HAHA. Welp the next couple days got even worse for me. The lady had made the soup with dirty water so I ended up getting sick and had stomach problems for the next 3 days. Definitely not ideal but I know the service was worth it. I know that even when it's hard the Lord is pleased with our efforts.
The investigation was pretty creepy, I'm not going to lie. We got a call at 1:30 in the morning from villa de San Antonio saying they were receiving not so nice texts and people were demanding money. The next morning, we went to investigate since we are the Zone Leaders and I was low-key freaking out but once we got there Elder wixom recognized the contact to be a young member of the church so we called his mom and got it all sorted out. Then we went and talked to him and his friends had taken his phone and thought they were funny but everything is all good now.
Good News we had another baptism, Erick Cruz. He's super awesome and loves the church and the whole baptism went great. I gave a talk and a sister told me my Spanish was good. They could at least understand me.
Weekly run through
Monday- Regular p-day. I played soccer and called home to talk to my family.
Tuesday- I finished the 100-day missionary survival challenge!! now to do it 6 more times HAHA. It poured rain and everyone and everything was soaked.
Wednesday- we went to a sick restaurant for dinner it's called el estuche. It's a sports restaurant. We had good chicken wings and me and Ramirez played pool and I won best 2 out of 3
Thursday- Basically all-day service project except we got one cita (appoitment) in and it poured again but I was prepared and had an umbrella unlike my companions.
Friday and Saturday- basic days except the baptism
Sunday- went to church then to a 3-ward choir cause Wixom played the piano for them. They asked us if we wanted to join and I said no I'm not a great singer cause these people I assumed where really good. Well, I come to find out really quick that Me and Chad Mcgary would have fit right in. HAHA.
Welp that's all for this week and as usual I'm always tired, It's always raining and I am starting to understand Spanish.
